Suffolk Industrial Archaeology Society

The Silk Weaving Industry of South West Suffolk - Dr David Tooth. David is both amateur historian and professionally involved in the silk industry, working for one of Sudbury's surviving silk weaving firms, Vanners.

Thursday 11th

Reopening of Sheringham Level Crossing with Oliver Cromwell Sheringham Level Crossing is set to re-open on March 11th, followed by a 3-day Celebration Gala.

Friday 19th - Sunday 21st

Spring Diesel Gala. This year's Spring Diesel Gala will feature Sulzer-engined locomotives, with visitors including 26 007, 45 133, 46 045 and a visiting mainline Sulzer locomotive. Further details to follow on MNR website.

Monday 29th

Ipswich Transport Society

Allan Sibley. A welcome return of this popular presenter from March. Allan will delight us with scenes of all forms of transport (road/rail/sea/air) during the last 40 years.

Monday 5th

Ipswich Transport museum

Easter Bus Event. This has become an established part of the Rally calendar and for 2010 it is ‘Red Bus’ day as we theme the day around the old Eastern Counties Omnibus Company. We will be running up to five of the Museums restored Eastern Counties buses on a network of free services from the Museum including serving the town centre and station. Visiting buses from other collections are welcome! Free park and ride will also be in operation on this day.

Suffolk Industrial Archaeology Society

The History of Leiston Airfield - Peter Saunders. Peter is a member of the Friends of Leiston Airfield, who are dedicated to preserving the memory of one of the county's Second World War airfields.

Monday 26th

Ipswich Transport Society

David Soggee. Classic colour views of rail and other transport and social history from the 1950s and 60s – this time including Isle of Man, M&GN and GE scenes
